In Windows 8, the “Display Rotation Tool” is not a required application as published. If you are receiving the “Unsupported Touchpad Device” error and you have the correct Versapad touchpad driver installed, then simply un-install the Display Rotation Tool. All front panel buttons should still work, including the Display Rotation button.
The CF-19 Win8 x64 bundle was updated to address this error on 8/26/14: https://panaconsulting.egnyte.com/dl/gE7vj2e83e

Hi Brian
Unfortunately the bundle doesn’t change anything. I’ve managed to get around the issue (kind of) by comparing registry entries on Windows 8 (where the driver installs fine and the Display Rotation Tool is happy with it) and Windows 8.1 (where it doesn’t and isn’t) and adding those pertaining to the Versapad driver from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. The functionality appears to be there and Display Rotation Tool is then happy; only real problem afterward is that the mouse driver doesn’t seem to load until after you’ve logged in.
Is there any sign of a proper, working Versapad driver for Windows 8.1?
Kieran, Is the Display Rotation Tool still installing? That is the tool that is tossing the error, and its not a required utility.
Hi Brian
The Display Rotation Tool is happy with what I’ve done; I realise it’s not required but I believe some of our users make use of the units in tablet mode and are used to the display orienting itself automatically; I don’t know that they’re all aware of the functionality of the edge buttons so may result in support incidents if we take it off and revert to the generic Microsoft PS/2 driver.
That’s actually less of a problem now; the greater problem as stated above is that the mouse driver seems to load during boot-up but the mouse pointer doesn’t appear until after login when using the Touchpad driver, whereas it works fine when using the PS/2 driver. We’ve mitigated this to a certain extent by disabling the lock screen, so when booting up the unit goes straight to the login box
I did email Interlink, as I noticed their website provided only an older version of the driver, for Windows 8, than Panasonic; unfortunately they made their disinterest plain and told me in no uncertain terms that it was Panasonic’s problem …
Kieran,
I understand, and I will reopen this issue on my end and research it further. Thanks for explaining this.
